Mr Stephen Phillips is the Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), the Government Department responsible for attracting and facilitating foreign direct investment into Hong Kong.

In a career focused on Asia for more than thirty years, Mr Phillips first moved to Hong Kong in 1989 holding senior investment banking positions with Deutsche and BZW/Barclays Capital before co-founding a Hong Kongbased group of companies providing IT, financial and consultancy services across Asia. In 2004, he joined the UK’s Department of International Trade before becoming the Chief Executive of the China Britain Business Council in 2006, as well as Chairman of the EU China Business Association.

Mr Phillips holds a BSc in Chemistry and Law from the University of Exeter.

Mr. Ryan Chung has over 20 years of private credit, private equity and capital markets experience in Asia. Mr. Chung founded the private credit investment team for Huatai International in 2014 and have deployed over US$1.5 billion principal capital in structured credit investments. He is responsible for the Huatai GBA Investment Fund to invest within the GBA region.

Prior to Huatai, Mr. Chung was a founding partner of the US$1 billion China-ASEAN Investment Fund specializing in private equity investments in infrastructure, energy and natural resources. Mr. Chung also served at UBS investment banking team and Citi leverage finance team covering Asia Pacific.

Mr. Chung has also received his Chartered Civil Engineer status from United Kingdom and Hong Kong. He has a master degree in Civil Engineering and Finance from Imperial College and Cass Business School London respectively.

Edwin is a Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Ares SSG and a member of the Management Committee of Ares Management. He oversees investment activities, strategic matters and business operations of Ares SSG. Prior to joining Ares in 2020, he founded SSG Capital Management in 2009 and served as its Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer, leading credit and special situations investments across Asia-Pacific. Previously, he was a Managing Director at Lehman Brothers in Hong Kong from 1997 to 2008, where he led Asia Special Situations Group. Edwin holds a BBA from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Manchester Business School and the University of Wales.

Ricky Xue, Head of Infrastructure and PE, Greater China at Brookfield Asset Management, is in charge of infrastructure and PE investment across Greater China, South Korea and Southeast Asia, as well as in developing other businesses in Asia. He leads the company in investments mainly on consumables, manufacturing, service and infrastructure as well as other non-cyclical industries with strong cash flow.

Ricky Xue was Chief Representative of Greater China at Navis Capital and Vice President of Prax Capital. With over ten years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, as well as equity investment, business strategy and operation consulting, he has led or joined in several domestic and foreign investments, mergers and acquisitions. Ricky Xue is a CFA, FRM and CIA holder and has been invited by CEIBS to lecture for EMBAs and MBAs as well as to comment on entrepreneurship courses.

Mr. Peter Yan is the Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited. As the CEO of Cyberport, Mr. Yan leads the digital technology flagship to focus on fostering industry development, enterprise transformation and talent cultivation to realise Cyberport’s vision to create new impetus for Hong Kong’s new economy through digital technology.

Mr. Yan has 34 years of experience in the information technology industry and is a fellow of the Hong Kong Computer Society. Prior to joining Cyberport, Mr. Yan was the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of SUNeVision Holdings Limited; and had held various senior management positions in large consulting and information technology services companies including Accenture, Tradelink Electronic Commerce Limited, and Computer and Technologies Holdings Limited. Mr. Yan has been active in public services especially in the areas of talent development and digital technology industry development, serving as advisors to the Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong and University of Hong Kong, as well as the Board of Cyberport from 2011 to 2017.

Mr. Yan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and received Executive Education from the Harvard Business School.

Huang has directed and participated in various National real estate researches and won several prestigious National rewards. She also serves as the Chief Editor of more than 30 real estate books, and fills in the gap of multiple industry research.

Mr. Fu Keung (Edward) Lau has 18 years of experience in corporate management, investment banking, consulting and accounting. Edward is Deputy Chief Financial Officer of New World Development Co. Ltd. (HKSE:17) leading Group’s financial functions including Finance, Accounting, Treasury and Investor Relations. Before joining New World, Edward was the Chief Financial Officer of Kaisa Group Holdings Ltd. (HKSE:1638), a Chinese property developer with focus on Greater Bay Area. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Edward was awarded “Best CFO – Buyside” in 2020 All-Asia Executive Team Leaders survey organized by Institutional Investor (II).

Edward held various senior banking positions with global investment banks prior to his CFO career. He managed structured credit investments in the Global Credit Trading group of Deutsche Bank. Edward had originated and executed 170+ equity and fixed income deals, with his last role as the Head of Equity Capital Markets, Greater China at Barclays Capital.

Edward received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance (with Distinction) and Master of Accounting (with Distinction) from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in 2001 and 2002 respectively. He is a U.S. (Delaware) Certified Public Accountant Certificate holder. Edward served as a member of the Greater Bay Area Working Group under the Mainland Opportunities Committee of Financial Services Development Council (FSDC), HKSAR Government.

Mr. Li is a member of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants in the PRC. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in literature, and second bachelor’s degree in administration management, from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Mr. Huang Peng, CFO and Joint Company Secretary of Country Garden Services. Mr. Huang joined the Group in 2016 and is primarily responsible for financial management, strategic investment management, operation management,  compliance and company secretarial matters of the Group.

Mr. Huang is a PRC Certified Public Accountant. He graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in June 2005, where he obtained a bachelor degree in transportation.  Besides that, he graduated from Guanghua School of Management of Peking University with a master degree in business administration in July 2012.

Chibo Tang has been investing in early-stage companies in the technology and media sectors in China for over a decade. He is Head of the Hong Kong office, overseeing Gobi’s Greater Bay Area practice, and manages the Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund, for which Gobi is the exclusive General Partner. He’s led numerous investments including Airwallex, WeLab, GOGOVAN, Urban Revivo, Prenetics, DayDayCook and Sandbox VR.

Chibo is recognized in the industry as Silicon Dragon Venture Capitalist of the Year 2017, Top 25 Global Corporate Venturing Rising Star 2019, Top 10 Global Corporate Venturing Emerging Leader 2020, a member of Generation T Asia Tatler Tribe, and a Co-Chair of the Asia Technology Entrepreneurship Conference.

Chibo received his B.A. in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Harvard College, and received his MBA in Finance from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). Chibo began his career as Strategy Consultant with Monitor Group, focusing on ASEAN and MENA regions. He also spent time at Robert Bosch as Senior Manager of Corporate Strategy APAC. Chibo joined Gobi Partners in 2009 and is currently a Partner based in Hong Kong.
